چکیده

We consider the problem of the joint mission planning with a team of heterogeneous physical agents. The type of missions that we consider are composed of a set of spatially distributed tasks that need to be selected and assigned to the agents for dealing with them. A plan consists of a set of directives specifying who does what, where, when, and for how long. The aim is to optimize system-level performance by explicitly taking into account and exploiting the different sensory-motor characteristics of the agents. We tackle this general problem and propose a mixed integer linear formulation of it, including a number of aspects/constraints that closely model features and requests of realistic scenarios. A solution approach with quality guarantees, based on the combination of a metaheuristic and a mathematical programming method, is presented.

A Hybrid Dynamic Programming for Inventory Routing Problem in Collaborative Reverse Supply Chains

Inventory routing problems arise as simultaneous decisions in inventory and routing optimization. In the present study, vendor managed inventory is proposed as a collaborative model for reverse supply chains and the optimization problem is modeled in terms of an inventory routing problem. The studied reverse supply chains include several return generators and recovery centers and one collection...

Mission Planning and Monitoring for Heterogeneous Unmanned Vehicle Teams: A Human-Centered Perspective

Future unmanned systems in the military will be highly heterogeneous in nature, with vehicles from multiple domains—aerial, underwater, and land—working in collaborative teams to complete a variety of missions. The complexity of supervising these teams will be enormous and will rely on human creativity, judgment, and experience. Therefore, the design and development of mission planning and moni...

Human-Robot Team Task Scheduling for Planetary Surface Missions

Future manned space exploration missions will require collaborative activities with human astronaut and robotic agents. Proposed mission planning and execution architectures rely on reactive task planning, focusing on real-time information sharing between ground personnel, astronauts, and rovers. We present a planning/scheduling strategy that autonomously optimizes initial task plans/schedules ...

Complex Tasks Allocation for Multi Robot Teams under Communication Constraints

The Multirobot Task Allocation (MRTA) paradigm is widely used in multirobot cooperation schemes, e.g. for observation, surveillance and tracking missions. Market-based approaches have yielded effective distributed solutions for such missions, showing the ability to manage heterogeneous, dynamic and robust robot teams. Two major challenges remain however poorly tackled: the management of inter-r...
